Used as a water fire-extinguishing system. The fire pumping station is supplied as a ready-to-operate compact module with all the necessary piping, shut-off valves, instrumentation and control cabinet.
The performance of the fire extinguishing stations depends directly on the type of pumping units used.
The stations are equipped with standard self-priming centrifugal pumps. Water is supplied to the pumps through the collector. A separate, sealed suction pipeline with a receiving valve must be installed for each pump. The pipeline must have a rise in the direction from the tank to the pump. The pumps increase the pressure and deliver water through the pressure collector in the firefighting system. The capacity of the pumps controlled by the cabinets is regulated by sequentially turning on or off necessary number of pumps.
In accordance with the current Construction Norms and Regulations SNiP 2.04.02-84, fire pumping stations belong to the 1st category of the power supply reliability. This means that interruptions in power supply are not allowed. It is reached by power reservation, as a rule it implies the presence of two independent power sources.
Before the installation of the complete Pumping Station in the designed position an excavation pit should be arranged - excavation works, dewatering, fixing the excavation walls with sheet piling (if necessary) and the arrangement of a monolithic reinforced concrete slab, to which the pumping station housing is anchored to prevent floating under the groundwater pressure. After the pumping station housing has been fixed in the designed position the pump equipment is mounted according to the manufacturer's documentation and connected to the electric control cabinet in accordance with PUE requirements (Rules of Electrical Installations Design (Russian Electrical Code), inlet and outlet branch pipes of the Pumping station and connected to the pipelines of the water supply system and hydraulic tests of these connections are performed. Then layer-by-layer backfilling of the excavation pit, with compaction by vibratory plate, is performed around the pumping station (PS). The final stage is commissioning and testing.
To ensure continuous operation of the PS electromechanical equipment, it is necessary to systematically observe the readings of the equipment, check the condition of the electrical contact connections, fixing of the equipment, proper operation of the grounding system of the entire equipment, and arrange periodic maintenance of the pumping equipment. Service and maintenance of pump units must be carried out in accordance with the pump unit manufacturer's instructions. When commissioning pump units after repairs, if the pump cable has been disconnected from the control cabinet, the direction of rotation of the motor must be checked.
