The pumping station with a dry chamber is designed for collecting and pumping rainwater and other sewage. Its main difference from other pumping stations is that it has a separate storage tank and a separate chamber with dry pumps.
Design and operating concept
Designed for collection and pumping of rainwater and wastewater. There is a storage tank in front of the housing with dry pumps. Double bottom with a drain pump allows pumping water in an emergency situation (flooding). One of the advantages is the possibility to maintain the pump units and shut-off valves inside the station housing.
Prior a complete pumping station installation in its designed position, an excavation pit should be arranged: excavation works, water level reduction, sheet piling of the excavation walls (if necessary) and a concrete slab to which the pump housing is anchored to prevent it from floating up under the groundwater pressure. After pumping station housing has been fixed in the designed position the pump equipment is mounted according to the manufacturer's datasheet and connected to the electric control panel in accordance with Electrical Installation Regulations, input and output branch pipes of the pumping station are connected to the pipelines of the water supply system and then hydraulic testing of these connections is carried out. Then excavation pit backfilling around the pumping station is carried out, layer by layer with compaction by vibration plate. The final stage is commissioning and testing.
To ensure trouble-free operation of the pumping station electromechanical equipment, it is necessary to systematically monitor the equipment readings, check the condition of the electrical connections, fixing of the equipment, proper operation of the earthing system of all the equipment, and perform periodic maintenance of the pumping equipment. Care and maintenance of pump units must be carried out in accordance with the pump unit manufacturer's datasheet. When starting up pump units after repairs, if the pump cable has been disconnected from the control box, the direction of motor rotation must be checked.
